I have been working on a book shelf / book cabinet, but that project has stopped up due to a few changes that has taken my focus. At the moment, I have the sides 80% done.

The image above was taken a year ago. And over the last year, I have experienced periods of fatigue and very little energy. I’ve gotten a thorough health check, and there is nothing wrong with my health. Just a lack of energy and motivation, plus the aforementioned episodes of fatigue. Thankfully, this seems to have passed, and I am now in full steam with two important projects that further puts the brakes on the shop.

In other good news, our kitchen garden is flourishing this year! Potatoes, beans, sugar peas, carrots, leeks, onions… Just look at the ingress image!

First: in two weeks time, meaning around the first week in September, our new kitchen arrives! I have worked hard to tear out the old one from 1983(!!!!) and stripping the walls to the studs. I decided to remove the old MDF sheets, tear out the old electrical thingamabobs and get new insulation and vapor barrier. We also put in a larger window and removed the wall between the kitchen and the living room.

We hired a carpenter to drywall the entire room (sans floor of course), and I am currently in the process of spackling, with painting in a week’s time.

And there is another thing that has taken up a lot of time – and it will get its own section on the blog. But that section will be in Norwegian only, because I doubt it will have much international interest.

I have bought my dream boat!

This is our NB 800, a 26 foot cabin cruiser with enclosed cabin, a fishing deck, sleeping compartment, a separate loo, a galley and loads of space. It has a 125 hp diesel engine with a straight shaft, giving us about 13 knots cruising speed and a top speed around 15-16 knots.

The boat was built in 1994, and it needs quite a bit of upgrades. Tankfully, there’s loads of woodworking to do – and those parts will be published in English as well.

I am hoping to continue work on the book case / book cabinet during the winter, because the kitchen renovation means that we’ll get rid of our dining table in favor of a new one that will serve as both kitchen table and dining table. And that frees up quite a large area in the living room. We are thinking about a couple of comfy chairs, perhaps a new TV – and we do want a home cinema setup.

Which opens up for a lot of woodworking!

So there you have it – my blog is not the most active anymore, but I will continue to publish articles. And who knows – maybe things will get going again. It does look that way.
