Holdfasts are the rats in the shop whack-a-mole game. The frustration getter-ridder-offer. To be serious: they do one thing superbly well, and they are named accordingly. They hold. They are fast.

The quest for a neat and tidy shop… who am I kidding? The quest for controlled chaos, I should say – in the shop involves figuring out how to store different tools. My two planing stops needs to be easy to grab and to put away. I am plan(n)ing to hang them on the wall.

A cluttered and unorganized desk could be seen as a reflection of the owner’s mind. What then if the desk is completely void..? Anyway, clutter ain’t good for productivity, so let’s build a support table thing.
The Veritas planing stop
Flailing a plane about can be very rewarding or make the piece of wood look more like a cat’s scratch board. It comes down to whether the thing stays in place or not. Hence a planing stop. I bought one from Veritas, and tested if it wood stop the would. Or.. something.
Dust collection
Dust collection is absolutely not just for sissies! There’s nothing manly sneezing a couple of particle boards after a shop session. Nor is breathing through a permanent piece of luggage, so take this topic seriously!
