The Big Boy Chisel Compartment
I cut a piece of cherry to length and made tiny tenons on the ends. They will go into a stopped dado in each side, which I cut using a chisel. The depth was refined using the router plane.

Tight enough…

I set my sliding bevel to the angle of the divider, and cut two blocks from some scrap teak wood. They will become holders for the burger flipper – I mean the Big Boy Chisel. I made knife walls and cut the pieces to length.

Using a big Forstner bit, I cut a round groove for the handle in one block, and a slightly too wide flat one in the other. The idea is to glue felt on either side to keep the chisel from rattling around.
I used a router plane to refine the bottom. Using one of these should be implemented into therapy! So satisfactory!

Here’s the two pieces after a bit of “poshing up”. Look at the shine in that chamfer – no finish, just teak oil! Which goes to show why one needs to clean the pieces with acetone before gluing them.

A final fit check – it is clear that the Big Boy Chisel has too much room. I will have to add some spacers at the ends so that it won’t slide around quite as much.

Other than that – time for some glue. And a new page.
